Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their dedicated product development team in Leeds . This role is central to the creation and optimization of drug delivery systems, playing a critical part in bringing new medicines from the laboratory to market. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and characterizing novel pharmaceutical formulations, ensuring they are safe, effective, and stable. The successful candidate will thrive in a hands-on laboratory setting, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve development milestones and contribute to the company's pipeline of advanced therapeutic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop various pharmaceutical dosage forms, including oral solids, liquids, and injectables.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to understand drug substance properties and their impact on formulation.
• Optimize formulations for manufacturability, stability, and bioavailability using appropriate excipients.
• Perform physical characterization of formulations, such as particle size analysis, dissolution testing, and stability studies.
• Scale-up formulation processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
• Collaborate with analytical, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product development and transfer.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proven expertise in various dosage forms and drug delivery technologies.
• Hands-on experience with formulation equipment and analytical techniques for characterization.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for drug product development (e.g., FDA, EMA).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
