About the Role
Our client is looking for an innovative and experienced Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic product development team in Sheffield . This role is integral to the design, development, and optimization of various dosage forms, ensuring the effective delivery of pharmaceutical compounds to patients. You will work on projects from early-stage formulation development through to technology transfer and scale-up, employing a deep understanding of physical pharmacy, materials science, and drug delivery systems. The ideal candidate will be adept at problem-solving, possess strong practical skills in formulation techniques, and collaborate effectively with analytical, manufacturing, and regulatory departments to bring high-quality pharmaceutical products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop novel oral solid dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules) and other delivery systems.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies to assess physicochemical properties of APIs and excipients.
- Optimize formulations for desired drug release profiles, bioavailability, and stability.
- Develop and perform experimental procedures for excipient compatibility studies, dissolution testing, and stability assessments.
- Prepare formulation development reports and contribute to regulatory submission documents.
- Collaborate with analytical and manufacturing teams for method transfer and process scale-up activities.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development , with a focus on solid dosage forms.
- Hands-on experience with formulation development techniques and equipment.
- Knowledge of excipients , drug delivery technologies, and their impact on formulation performance.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines relevant to product development and manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
