Plant Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive Plant Chemical Engineer to manage and optimize chemical processes at their facility in Derby . This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant. You will be involved in troubleshooting operational issues, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of chemical processes, ensuring optimal performance and output.
• Troubleshoot process upsets, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Develop and update operating procedures and process documentation.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment integrity and reliability.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant engineering or operational role within the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of process control, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with various teams.
