We're delighted to be supporting a highly respected, long‑established construction equipment dealer as they continue to expand their technical team. Due to continued growth the company is seeking a skilled and proactive Plant Machinery Technician / Fitter to join their PDI and workshop operation.
The Role
As a Plant Machinery Technician / Fitter, you'll play a key role in preparing new machinery for delivery, carrying out repairs on used equipment, and supporting the preparation of auction stock. You'll be joining a friendly, experienced team with a reputation for quality workmanship and excellent customer care. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, and you'll be working with leading brands including Kubota, with a brand‑new premises opening in Earls Barton in early 2027.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out PDI preparation on new machinery ready for customer delivery Perform maintenance, fault‑finding and repairs on plant equipment Repair or replace mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components Conduct welding, soldering and fabrication tasks using hand and power tools Safely operate heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts Prepare used and auction equipment for resale Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs and maintenance Adhere to all site Health & Safety procedures and company standards
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in plant machinery maintenance, electrics, PDI work or similar Strong background in fabrication, welding, soldering and mechanical assembly Experience operating heavy machinery (excavators, forklifts) preferred Good understanding of plant equipment, safety procedures and workshop practices Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach Ability to work to deadlines with excellent attention to detail Team‑focused, personable and professional
