PMLD Tutor – Specialist SEND & Complex Needs
Location: Lewisham Pay: £25–£35 per hour PAYE + paid planning and preparation time Contract: Part-Time | Term-Time Only
About the Role
New Chapter Tuition is recruiting an experienced and compassionate PMLD Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 education to children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex additional needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners who require highly individualised, sensory-based and relationship-led education.
Key Responsibilities
*
Plan and deliver engaging, sensory-based learning activities.
*
Support communication, cognition, independence and functional life skills.
*
Adapt teaching for complex physical, sensory and communication needs.
*
Use approaches including intensive interaction, Makaton and AAC where appropriate.
*
Work collaboratively with families, carers and other professionals.
*
Monitor progress and complete weekly reports.
Essential Requirements
*
Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD, SLD or complex SEND.
*
Experience delivering individualised educational activities.
*
Understanding of sensory learning and alternative communication methods.
*
Patient, creative and adaptable teaching approach.
*
Strong safeguarding awareness and communication skills.
Desirable: QTS, specialist SEND qualifications, experience in specialist schools or knowledge of the Engagement Model.
