Protect Every Journey. Make a Difference Every Day.

Every day, millions of people rely on Britain's railway network. As a Police Officer with British Transport Police, you'll help keep passengers safe, protect vulnerable people, prevent crime and keep the country moving.

From major railway stations and transport hubs to sporting events, concerts and city centres, you'll work in some of London's busiest and most recognisable locations. No two days are ever the same.

One day you could be safeguarding a vulnerable child. The next, responding to an emergency, supporting a victim, investigating crime or helping manage a major incident.

This is a career where your actions genuinely matter. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive difference.

Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP)

Successful candidates will join the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP), British Transport Police's non-degree entry route for Police Officers.

You'll be employed as a Police Officer and paid from day one whilst completing fully funded training.

From April 2027, the initial training programme will last approximately 33 weeks. Training combines classroom learning, online study, scenario-based exercises and practical operational policing experience.

Supported by experienced trainers, tutors and supervisors, you'll develop the skills and confidence required to respond to incidents and emergencies, investigate crime, protect vulnerable people, support victims and witnesses, and use police powers lawfully and effectively.

Why Join British Transport Police?

British Transport Police offers a unique policing career protecting millions of passengers across the rail network every day. You'll work in iconic locations across London, experience a wide variety of incidents and investigations, and play a vital role in keeping the travelling public safe.
