Power Systems Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Power Systems Analyst to join their strategic planning team, based in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is crucial for evaluating the stability, reliability, and efficiency of the electrical grid under various operating conditions and future scenarios. You will utilize sophisticated modelling tools and analytical techniques to assess grid performance, identify potential constraints, and support the integration of new energy sources. Your insights will directly influence investment decisions and operational strategies, contributing to the long-term security and sustainability of the energy supply.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, short circuit, and transient stability analyses using industry-standard software.
• Model and assess the impact of renewable energy sources, energy storage, and new generation technologies on the grid.
• Develop and maintain system models, ensuring their accuracy and relevance to current and future operating conditions.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and potential risks.
• Collaborate with grid operators, asset managers, and planning engineers to provide technical expertise.
• Prepare comprehensive reports detailing analysis findings, conclusions, and recommendations for strategic planning.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in power system analysis and planning.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, or PSCAD.
• Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including network theory, load flow, and fault analysis.
• Experience with grid codes and regulatory requirements for power system operation.
• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
