Power Systems Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their essential operations in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is central to ensuring the reliable design, operation, and maintenance of the company's critical power infrastructure. You will be involved in everything from grid connection design to power quality analysis and system upgrades. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical systems for power generation, distribution, and protection.
• Conduct load flow studies , fault analysis, and stability simulations for power systems.
• Specify and select switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated protection relays.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of power system equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Investigate power quality issues and develop solutions to mitigate problems and improve system performance.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent.
• Understanding of grid codes and interconnection standards.
• Experience with substation design and protection schemes.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively on site and in a team environment.
