Power Systems Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is integral to the design, analysis, and operation of electrical power systems essential for our industrial facilities. You will contribute to ensuring the reliable and efficient distribution of power, working on projects that involve upgrades, new installations, and system optimisation. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power distribution systems, substations, and associated protection schemes.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies using power system analysis software.
• Specify and select power system equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards for power system design and operation.
• Collaborate with site engineers and project managers to oversee the implementation of power systems.
• Investigate and resolve power quality issues and system disturbances.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Proven experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
• Proficiency in power system simulation tools like PSS/E, ETAP, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong understanding of electrical protection principles and schemes.
• Familiarity with grid codes and regulatory requirements for power systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a hybrid model .
