Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client has an exciting opening for a skilled Power Systems Engineer to join their dedicated team based in Cardiff . This role is crucial for the planning, design, and analysis of electrical power infrastructure. You will be involved in projects that ensure the reliable and efficient distribution of power, working closely with a team of experienced engineers and technicians. The role requires a hands-on approach and presence within the office and at project sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses for power systems.
• Design and specify electrical components for substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
• Develop protection schemes and coordinate relay settings.
• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments for new power projects.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards .
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialisation in Power Systems.
• Demonstrated experience in power system analysis and design.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PowerFactory).
• Knowledge of grid codes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution principles.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
