About the Role
Our client is seeking a visionary Precision Agriculture Specialist to drive innovation and efficiency within their agricultural operations from a remote capacity. This role is at the forefront of using technology to optimise farming practices, reduce environmental impact, and enhance crop yields. You will be responsible for implementing and managing cutting-edge technologies such as GPS, sensors, drones, and data analytics platforms. This is a unique opportunity for an expert to contribute to the advancement of modern agriculture, working autonomously and remotely to advise clients and manage sophisticated agricultural systems across dispersed locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage precision agriculture systems, including variable rate application technology, GPS guidance, and yield monitoring.
- Utilise remote sensing data (satellite imagery, drone data) for crop health assessment, soil analysis, and field mapping.
- Develop and interpret complex datasets to provide actionable insights for optimising planting, fertilising, and pest management strategies.
- Advise farmers and agricultural managers on the selection and integration of precision agriculture technologies.
- Conduct field trials and evaluations of new precision farming tools and techniques.
- Provide technical support and training to users of precision agriculture equipment and software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Precision Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in precision agriculture, agricultural technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with GIS software, data analysis tools, and agricultural management information systems (e.g., John Deere Operations Center, Climate FieldView).
- Experience with sensor technology, drone operation for agricultural applications, and data interpretation.
- Strong understanding of crop science and soil management principles.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences in a remote setting.
