Precision Agriculture Technician

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Precision Agriculture Technician to join their forward-thinking team in Edinburgh , working a hybrid model. This role involves the implementation, calibration, and maintenance of advanced technologies such as GPS, sensors, drones, and variable rate application systems on agricultural equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate collection and application of data to optimize farm operations, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. This position requires a blend of technical aptitude and practical agricultural understanding.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain precision agriculture equipment on tractors and other farm machinery.
• Operate drones for crop monitoring, mapping, and data collection.
• Collect, process, and manage data from various precision agriculture technologies.
• Assist farmers in interpreting data and making informed decisions regarding planting, fertilization, and harvesting.
• Provide technical support and training to farm staff on the use of precision agriculture tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment and software in the field and office.

Requirements

• Experience working with precision agriculture technologies (GPS, VRT, sensors, drones).
• Proficiency in using farm management software and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of agricultural operations and crop management principles.
• Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
• A relevant qualification in Agriculture, Technology, or a related field is advantageous.
