Precision Agriculture Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a technically proficient Precision Agriculture Technician to support their operations based near Portsmouth . This role is at the forefront of modern farming, utilizing cutting-edge technology to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and profitability in agriculture . You will be responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and operation of precision farming equipment, including GPS systems, soil sensors, drones, and variable rate applicators. This hybrid role involves both field-based work and essential support from an office setting, allowing you to apply your technical skills to real-world agricultural challenges. You will play a key role in advising farmers on data interpretation and application.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain GPS guidance systems, auto-steer technology, and other precision agriculture hardware on farm machinery.
• Calibrate and operate sensors for soil analysis, weather monitoring, and crop health assessment.
• Manage and analyze data collected from drones, sensors, and machinery, generating insights for farm management.
• Provide technical support and training to farm operators on the use of precision agriculture equipment and software.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic and mechanical issues with precision farming technology.
• Assist in developing variable rate application plans for fertilizers, seeds, and crop protection products.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in precision agriculture technology and methodologies.

Requirements

• A degree or HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience working with precision agriculture technologies and farm machinery.
• Strong understanding of GPS, GIS, sensor technology, and data management principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for electronic and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into practical farming recommendations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
