About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Principal Chemical Engineer with a specialization in Process Safety to join their global, remote-first engineering division. This pivotal role will involve leading the development and implementation of robust process safety strategies across multiple projects and sites, ensuring the highest standards of safety are met. You will provide expert guidance on hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation techniques, working collaboratively with distributed teams to foster a strong safety culture. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems and policies.
- Conduct and review Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Provide expert technical guidance on safety aspects of process design, modification, and operation.
- Develop and deliver training programs on process safety principles and best practices to diverse teams.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventive actions.
- Stay abreast of evolving process safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices, ensuring compliance.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in chemical engineering with a deep focus on process safety.
- Extensive experience in conducting and leading various types of Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) .
- In-depth knowledge of international process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH, IEC 61511).
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead safety initiatives in a remote, global environment .
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
