Principal Civil Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Principal Civil Engineer with expertise in Water Resources to join their fully remote team. This senior role involves leading the strategic development and implementation of water management solutions, including flood defense, river engineering, and sustainable water supply projects across the UK and internationally. You will provide high-level technical leadership, mentor a team of specialists, and engage with key stakeholders and clients to drive innovation and ensure resilient water infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and delivery of major water resources projects, including flood risk management, drainage, and water supply systems.
• Provide expert technical direction and oversight on complex hydraulic modeling, environmental impact assessments, and system optimization.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for sustainable water management and climate change adaptation.
• Manage project teams, budgets, and client relationships, ensuring successful project outcomes.
• Represent the company in client meetings, public consultations, and industry forums, acting as a subject matter expert.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and specialists within the water resources discipline.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water resources management and infrastructure design.
• Proven track record in leading large-scale water-related projects, including flood defense and river engineering.
• Extensive experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks) and GIS tools.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
