Principal Civil Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of complex water resource projects, including flood defence, drainage, and river engineering.
• Develop hydrological and hydraulic models to assess water-related risks and design mitigation measures.
• Provide expert advice on water management strategies, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), and environmental impact assessments.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively within a remote team structure.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and specialists, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
• Engage with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to build strong working relationships and secure new opportunities.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or a related environmental science discipline.
• Significant experience (10+ years) in water resources engineering and management.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent.
• Expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, SWMM).
• In-depth understanding of UK water legislation, policy, and environmental regulations.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to manage complex projects and teams remotely.
