Principal Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and authoritative Principal Civil Engineer to spearhead critical infrastructure projects based in Coventry, West Midlands . This senior position requires a strategic thinker capable of leading complex engineering initiatives from inception to successful handover. You will be pivotal in driving innovation and ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence across a range of public and private sector developments. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership and direction on major civil engineering projects, overseeing design, planning, and execution phases.
• Conduct high-level risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex engineering challenges.
• Ensure all projects comply with current UK building regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety legislation.
• Manage and mentor a team of civil engineers and technicians, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high performance.
• Liaise with key stakeholders, including local authorities, clients, and construction partners, to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Champion the adoption of new technologies and innovative design methodologies to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in a senior or principal engineering role, demonstrating a track record of successfully delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng MICE, CEng MIStructE) is mandatory.
• Expertise in geotechnical engineering , structural design, and drainage systems .
• Proficiency with advanced project management and design software, including BIM tools.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
