About the Role

Our client is looking for a distinguished Principal Civil Engineer to spearhead their major infrastructure initiatives based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior role demands extensive technical expertise and leadership to manage large-scale, high-profile projects within the Tyne and Wear region. You will be at the forefront of innovative engineering solutions, driving projects from the initial concept through to final handover, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities

Provide expert technical leadership and strategic direction for complex civil engineering projects.
Oversee the entire project lifecycle, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to address complex site challenges and project requirements.
Manage and mentor a team of civil engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout all project phases.
Act as a key technical advisor to senior management and external stakeholders, representing the company professionally.

Requirements

Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant advanced technical qualification.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with significant experience in a principal or lead role.
Demonstrated expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, water, energy).
Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies and relevant engineering software suites.
Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) accreditation is mandatory.
