About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead critical projects from their Newcastle upon Tyne office. This senior position demands strategic thinking, technical mastery, and the ability to oversee large-scale civil engineering initiatives impacting regional development. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, championing innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This is a crucial role within the organisation, offering the chance to make a substantial impact on major projects and influence the technical direction of the company, working from our established Tyne and Wear base.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical leadership and direction on major civil engineering projects, from conceptualisation to completion.
- Oversee the design and development of complex infrastructure, including transportation networks, utilities, and land development.
- Manage project risks, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality specifications.
- Mentor and guide a team of civil engineers and design professionals, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Liaise with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and relationships are maintained.
- Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to address challenging site conditions and project requirements.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Over 10 years of demonstrated experience in a senior or principal civil engineering role.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised professional institution is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering , structural analysis, and transportation infrastructure design .
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
- Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and client-facing communication skills.
