Principal Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Civil Engineer to lead critical infrastructure projects from their Birmingham office. This senior role involves overseeing complex design challenges, managing multi-disciplinary teams, and providing expert technical advice to clients and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership and direction for major civil engineering schemes, including highways, water management, and site development.
• Oversee the technical quality and integrity of all engineering designs produced by the team.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, government agencies, and other project stakeholders, fostering strong relationships.
• Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to address complex project challenges and optimize outcomes.
• Manage and mentor a team of civil engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
• Conduct technical reviews, site inspections, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Fellowship of a relevant professional engineering institution (e.g., FICE) and a proven record of technical leadership.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in managing and delivering large-scale civil engineering infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in geotechnical engineering , hydrology, traffic management, and structural design principles.
• Proficiency with advanced engineering analysis software and project management tools.
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and strategic planning abilities.
