Principal Cloud Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Cloud Architect to lead their cloud strategy and infrastructure initiatives. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to shape the future of cloud computing for a leading organization from anywhere in the UK. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing complex cloud solutions that are scalable, secure, and cost-effective. This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization, driving innovation and operational excellence in a cloud-native environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect robust, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions on platforms such as AWS , Azure , or GCP .
• Develop and implement cloud strategy, governance, and best practices across the organization.
• Lead the migration of existing applications and infrastructure to the cloud.
• Define and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams on cloud technologies and practices.
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and make recommendations for adoption to enhance capabilities.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in cloud architecture and design, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale cloud deployments.
• Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS , Azure , or GCP ), including their core services and networking.
• Strong understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python , Bash ) and automation tools.
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead and influence.
