About the Role

Our client, a highly respected architectural and heritage consultancy in Bristol , is seeking a Principal Conservation Architect . This senior role is crucial for leading projects focused on the preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and structures. You will be the primary technical advisor, conducting detailed assessments, developing conservation strategies, and overseeing works on site. Working with a variety of sensitive heritage assets across the South West, you will collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and specialist craftspeople to ensure the highest standards of conservation practice are met. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment and survey of historic buildings and sites.
• Develop comprehensive conservation management plans and repair strategies.
• Prepare design proposals for the sensitive alteration and adaptive reuse of heritage assets.
• Act as the principal point of contact for clients, heritage bodies, and statutory consultees.
• Oversee and manage conservation projects from inception through to completion.

Requirements

• Qualified Architect with extensive experience and accreditation in conservation architecture .
• Deep understanding of historic building materials, construction techniques, and conservation philosophy.
• Proficiency in historic building analysis, recording, and documentation.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
• Experience working with listed buildings and within conservation areas is essential.
