Principal Data Scientist - Genomics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Scientist to spearhead their groundbreaking work in genomics research . This fully remote position offers the opportunity to define and execute advanced analytical strategies that will unlock critical insights from vast genomic datasets. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sophisticated statistical models and machine learning algorithms for large-scale genomic data analysis.
• Design and manage bioinformatics pipelines for processing, analyzing, and visualizing diverse genomic datasets (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq).
• Collaborate remotely with biologists, clinicians, and other data scientists to define research questions and analytical approaches.
• Identify and integrate relevant external datasets to enrich internal analyses.
• Author high-impact publications and present findings at leading scientific conferences.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists and bioinformaticians within the organization.

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in data science, with a significant focus on genomics and bioinformatics.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and expertise in relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong understanding of statistical genetics, population genetics, and machine learning techniques applicable to biological data.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for effective remote teamwork.
