About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Grid Strategy Consultant to guide the evolution of the energy grid in Oxford . This senior role focuses on developing long-term strategies for grid modernisation, integrating renewable energy sources, and addressing the challenges posed by electrification and decentralisation. You will work with major energy companies, network operators, and government bodies to shape the future of the UK's electricity infrastructure . The ideal candidate possesses exceptional analytical skills, a deep understanding of power systems, and a proven ability to advise on complex strategic issues within the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate long-term grid strategy for clients, aligning with national energy goals and technological advancements.
- Analyse the impact of emerging trends such as EVs, heat pumps, and distributed generation on grid infrastructure.
- Advise on investment planning, regulatory frameworks, and operational strategies for network operators.
- Lead consulting engagements, managing project teams and client relationships effectively.
- Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence within the power sector.
- Prepare high-level strategic reports, presentations, and workshops for senior executives.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in the energy sector, with a significant focus on power systems planning and strategy.
- Deep understanding of grid operations, regulatory environments, and the challenges of integrating renewables.
- Proven experience in strategic consulting or advising major energy sector clients.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen.
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
