About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly influential Principal Industrial Engineer to join their team in Leeds, West Yorkshire . In this senior role, you will provide strategic direction and technical leadership for major operational improvement initiatives. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex engineering solutions that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve the overall performance of our client's industrial operations. This is a critical position that demands a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles, extensive experience in leading large-scale projects, and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence are maintained across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of complex industrial engineering projects, from conception to completion.
- Develop and implement advanced methodologies for process optimization, capacity planning, and facility layout design.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, root causes of inefficiency, and opportunities for significant performance improvement.
- Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to define long-term operational strategies and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment to enhance operational capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field; PhD is a plus.
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering , with a focus on large-scale project leadership and strategic initiatives.
- Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing , Six Sigma (Master Black Belt preferred), and other operational excellence frameworks.
- Proven ability to design and optimize complex manufacturing systems, supply chains, and logistics operations.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Expertise in advanced statistical analysis, simulation modeling, and operations research techniques.
