Principal Planning Officer

Our client in the North West is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Planning Officer on an agency basis for a 12-month contract, focusing on the management of Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs) and major planning applications. This is a key role supporting service continuity and the delivery of strategic growth priorities. Rate: £60-65 per hour (Umbrella) Office presence:Hybrid - approx once a week (key meetings, committee) Role Overview:

• Lead the full lifecycle of PPAs, including negotiation, setting milestones, and ensuring compliance
• Act as the main point of contact for developers and internal stakeholders on all PPA matters
• Manage major planning applications linked to PPAs, coordinating both internal and external teams
• Oversee financial aspects of PPAs, including income tracking, invoicing, and reporting
• Support service improvements and promote best practice across the team Key Requirements:
• Extensive experience handling major planning applications and PPAs
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
• Ability to work autonomously and meet statutory timescales
• Solid understanding of planning legislation and local authority processes
