Principal Scientist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a visionary Principal Scientist to lead critical initiatives in pharmaceutical development at their state-of-the-art facility in Manchester . This senior role is responsible for driving the strategic direction of drug formulation, process development, and scale-up activities. You will leverage your deep scientific expertise to overcome complex formulation challenges and ensure the successful transition of drug candidates from early discovery to clinical manufacturing. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of novel drug delivery systems and formulations.
• Oversee the scale-up of pharmaceutical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scales, ensuring reproducibility and compliance.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing drug products and ensuring quality control.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of formulation scientists and technicians.
• Prepare regulatory submission documentation and engage with regulatory agencies as needed.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, with a strong focus on formulation development .
• Demonstrated expertise in various dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topicals) and advanced drug delivery technologies.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, DSC, TGA, and dissolution testing.
• Strong understanding of GMP regulations, ICH guidelines, and drug development lifecycle.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.
