Principal Scientist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Scientist to lead their Pharmaceutical Development team in Oxford . This senior role is critical in advancing drug candidates from discovery through to clinical development, overseeing formulation, analytical development, and manufacturing process optimization. You will provide scientific leadership and strategic direction, ensuring the successful progression of projects within a highly collaborative and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of robust pharmaceutical formulations for small molecules and biologics.
• Oversee the development and validation of analytical methods for drug substance and product characterization.
• Design and execute stability studies to assess drug product shelf-life.
• Provide scientific expertise and strategic guidance for manufacturing process development.
• Mentor and develop junior scientists and technical staff within the department.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development.
• Proven expertise in formulation development, analytical chemistry, and drug delivery systems.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, ICH guidelines).
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
