About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Software Engineer to lead architectural design and technical strategy in Sheffield . You will be responsible for defining the technical vision, setting architectural standards, and guiding engineering teams in the development of complex, scalable, and maintainable software systems. This role requires a deep understanding of software design patterns, architectural principles, and emerging technologies. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's technology landscape, ensuring robust solutions that meet current and future business needs while mentoring other engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the overall software architecture for key products and platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineering teams.
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve development efficiency and system capabilities.
- Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical strategies.
- Ensure adherence to architectural standards, best practices, and security requirements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on architecture.
- Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, distributed, and resilient software systems.
- Expertise in multiple programming languages and architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture).
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with performance tuning, scalability, and security considerations in system design.
