About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to join their core technology team, focusing on Cloud Infrastructure , in the Sunderland area. This is a leadership role where you will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining the scalable and reliable cloud platforms that underpin our client's global operations. You will tackle complex engineering challenges, mentor other engineers, and drive best practices in cloud-native development and operations. The role requires a deep technical expertise and a strategic vision for cloud services, contributing to the robust technological foundation for our client's future growth from their base in Sunderland .
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions on platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and infrastructure management.
- Drive the adoption of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineering teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within the cloud environment, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years focused on cloud infrastructure.
- Expertise in designing and managing distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting languages.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and database management in a cloud context.
