Principal Telecoms Network Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Principal Telecoms Network Architect to join their advanced technology group based in or near Reading . This senior position is responsible for defining the strategic direction and technical roadmap for our client's entire telecommunications network infrastructure. You will lead the design of complex, large-scale networks, ensuring they are robust, scalable, secure, and future-proof. This is a unique opportunity for a thought leader to shape the technological landscape of a major player in the telecoms industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of complex, high-capacity telecoms networks , encompassing core, transport, and access layers.
• Develop and maintain the long-term network strategy and technology roadmap, anticipating future industry trends.
• Evaluate, pilot, and recommend new technologies and architectural approaches to enhance network capabilities.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to network engineering and operations teams.
• Collaborate with product management, R&D, and business units to ensure network architecture aligns with business objectives.
• Author comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture blueprints, standards, and best practice guides.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in Network Architecture , with a significant focus on large-scale telecoms environments.
• Deep understanding of networking principles, protocols (e.g., BGP, MPLS, segment routing), and security best practices.
• Proven experience designing and implementing solutions involving SDN, NFV, cloud networking, and automation.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and architect complex systems.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to present to executive stakeholders.
• Relevant advanced certifications (e.g., CCDE, CISSP) or a Master's degree in a related field are highly desirable.
