Process Chemist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented and process-oriented Process Chemist to join their manufacturing operations team in Portsmouth . This role is critical for developing, scaling up, and optimizing chemical synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). You will work in a state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot plant, ensuring that manufacturing processes are safe, efficient, robust, and cost-effective. This is an excellent opportunity for a chemist passionate about translating laboratory-scale synthesis into reliable industrial production in Portsmouth .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
• Scale up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
• Conduct process hazard assessments and implement safety measures for chemical reactions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during process development and manufacturing.
• Document all process development activities and prepare technical reports for internal review and regulatory filings.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in process development and scale-up, preferably in the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and process safety.
• Experience with analytical techniques for process monitoring and characterization.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects.
