Process Design Engineer - Specialty Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer with a focus on specialty chemicals for a remote position, nominally based out of Norwich, Norfolk . This role will involve leading the design and development of innovative chemical processes for niche applications. You will collaborate virtually with a global team of experts, leveraging your deep understanding of chemical engineering to create efficient, safe, and sustainable process solutions. This is a key role for an experienced designer who excels in a remote setting and has a passion for pushing the boundaries of chemical process technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual design and detailed engineering of processes for specialty chemicals.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Perform process simulations and calculations for mass and energy balances, reaction kinetics, and separation processes.
• Ensure designs meet all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, operations personnel, and external stakeholders in a virtual environment.
• Contribute to HAZOP reviews and other safety assessments for new designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Significant experience (6+ years) in process design, particularly within the specialty chemicals sector.
• Proficiency with process simulation software and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, separation technologies, and process safety principles.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail in design work.
• Proven ability to manage projects and communicate effectively in a remote setting.
