Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Process Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Glasgow . This hybrid role focuses on conceptualizing and developing new chemical processes, as well as optimizing existing ones. You will play a key part in translating scientific concepts into viable industrial applications, working collaboratively with a team of engineers and scientists. The hybrid model offers the perfect blend of focused independent work and crucial team interaction, contributing to the company's cutting-edge projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform mass and energy balance calculations for new and existing processes.
• Conduct feasibility studies and techno-economic assessments for proposed projects.
• Select and specify process equipment, ensuring it meets design and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs are integrated seamlessly into plant operations.
• Contribute to process hazard analyses and safety reviews.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process design within the chemical industry.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD).
• Strong understanding of unit operations and chemical thermodynamics.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for a hybrid role.
