About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Process Development Chemist to join their research and development team in Bristol . This role is pivotal in scaling up laboratory synthesis processes to pilot and full manufacturing scales, ensuring safety, efficiency, and economic viability. You will work closely with chemists, engineers, and production personnel to troubleshoot and optimize chemical processes, develop new methodologies, and ensure robust and reproducible manufacturing outcomes. This hybrid role allows for focused laboratory work and collaborative engagement with broader operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes for new and existing products, focusing on scalability and safety.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate process parameters, yields, and purity.
- Scale up chemical processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and full manufacturing scale.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and manufacturing.
- Prepare detailed process descriptions, reports, and documentation for internal review and regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with analytical chemists and engineers to develop appropriate analytical methods and process controls.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record of successfully scaling up chemical processes.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and reaction kinetics.
- Experience with process safety assessments and hazard analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
