About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Process Development Chemist to join their innovative team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on the research, development, and scale-up of new chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for designing and executing laboratory experiments, analyzing results, and contributing to the successful transfer of processes from bench-scale to pilot and ultimately to commercial production. This is a hands-on laboratory-based position offering the opportunity to work with a diverse range of chemical products and contribute to new product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct laboratory experiments to develop and optimize chemical synthesis pathways.
- Investigate and resolve challenges encountered during process scale-up activities.
- Characterize reaction products and intermediates using appropriate analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, NMR, MS).
- Prepare detailed experimental reports, process descriptions, and safety assessments.
- Collaborate closely with chemical engineers and other R&D personnel to ensure seamless process transfer.
- Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records, adhering to GLP/GMP principles where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in synthetic organic chemistry or process chemistry.
- Hands-on experience with common laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
- Familiarity with process scale-up principles and challenges.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
