About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Development Engineer to join their dynamic manufacturing team in Leeds . This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling up the production processes for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). You will be responsible for troubleshooting existing manufacturing issues, developing innovative process improvements, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. This hands-on position requires a strong engineering background and a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles within the pharmaceutical industry, contributing directly to the efficient and high-quality production of essential medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up API manufacturing processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale.
- Investigate and resolve process deviations and equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety improvements.
- Design and execute experiments (DoE) to improve yield, purity, and efficiency of manufacturing steps.
- Prepare technical reports, process validation protocols, and support regulatory submissions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical industry or fine chemicals.
- Hands-on experience with process scale-up, troubleshooting, and optimization of chemical synthesis.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP ) and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with process modeling software is a plus.
