Process Development Engineer - API Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Process Development Engineer to join their Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing team in Sheffield . This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis processes for new and existing APIs, ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. You will work in a laboratory and pilot plant setting, developing robust manufacturing processes that meet stringent pharmaceutical quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about chemical process development within the pharmaceutical sector, contributing to the reliable supply of critical drug substances.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up chemical synthesis processes for APIs.
• Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate process parameters and identify critical control points.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues encountered during development and manufacturing.
• Develop process safety assessments and implement appropriate safety measures.
• Collaborate with analytical development and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth technology transfer.
• Document process development activities, including experimental results and PFDs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in process development, preferably within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, separation techniques, and scale-up principles.
• Experience with process safety evaluation and hazard analysis is a plus.
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
