Process Development Engineer - Pharmaceutical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Process Development Engineer to join their pharmaceutical manufacturing division. This role plays a crucial part in refining and scaling up chemical processes for novel drug compounds. You will work on optimizing existing manufacturing methods and developing new ones to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with stringent regulatory standards. The position offers a blend of on-site laboratory and pilot plant work with remote data analysis and reporting, providing a dynamic work experience in a critical industry, located in the heart of Cardiff .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and active ingredients.
• Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate process parameters, identify critical control points, and ensure robustness.
• Scale up processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
• Prepare detailed process documentation, including batch records, validation reports, and safety assessments.
• Collaborate with analytical development, formulation, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality and yield.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in process development, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) principles and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with process simulation and modelling software.
• Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
