Process Development Engineer - Polymers

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Process Development Engineer specializing in polymers to join their innovative team in Nottingham . This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling up processes for the manufacture of advanced polymer materials. You will work in state-of-the-art laboratories and pilot plant facilities, translating research concepts into robust manufacturing solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize polymerization processes and associated downstream processing steps for new polymer products.
• Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot-scale trials to evaluate process parameters, yield, and product quality.
• Utilize analytical techniques to characterize polymer properties and understand structure-property relationships.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless scale-up and commercialization of new polymer products.
• Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve efficiency and product consistency.
• Prepare detailed reports, process documentation, and contribute to intellectual property development.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development, with a focus on polymer manufacturing or processing.
• Strong understanding of polymerization kinetics , reactor design, and polymer characterization techniques.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and scale-up challenges.
• Familiarity with process safety considerations relevant to polymer production.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
