About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Process Development Engineer to join their innovative chemical engineering team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role offers a dynamic blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute to exciting research and development initiatives. You will be instrumental in scaling up laboratory processes to pilot and full production, ensuring the efficient and safe transfer of technology. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, works well within a hybrid model, and is eager to make a tangible impact on the development of new chemical products and manufacturing methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize new chemical processes from laboratory scale through to pilot plant and commercial production.
- Conduct thorough experimental design and analysis to define critical process parameters and operating ranges.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, process descriptions, and safety assessments for new process initiatives.
- Collaborate with research chemists and engineers to ensure seamless technology transfer and scale-up.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and yield enhancement.
- Support plant operations by troubleshooting process deviations and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field.
- 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or manufacturing support within the chemical industry.
- Proficiency in experimental design (DoE) and statistical analysis.
- Experience with pilot plant operations and process hazard analysis (PHA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with diverse teams.
