About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and forward-thinking Process Development Engineer to join their innovative team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to advancing their product development pipeline, focusing on the optimization and refinement of chemical processes for new and existing products. You will work within a collaborative environment, bridging the gap between laboratory-scale research and pilot plant operations, ensuring that processes are scalable, safe, and economically viable. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize chemical processes from lab scale to pilot and potentially commercial scale, focusing on yield improvement and cost reduction.
- Conduct detailed experimental investigations, including design of experiments (DOE), to understand process variables and identify optimal operating conditions.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and generate comprehensive reports with clear recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and successful process implementation.
- Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions to enhance process stability and reliability.
- Prepare technical documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and operating procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
- Proven experience in process development , scale-up, and optimization within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in experimental design (DOE) and data analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with process safety principles and hazard analysis methodologies.
- Strong understanding of chemical unit operations and their scale-up challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
