About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive Process Development Engineer to join their innovative team based in Manchester . This role is central to advancing our client's manufacturing capabilities by developing and validating new chemical processes. You will be involved in laboratory-scale experiments, pilot plant trials, and the subsequent scale-up to full commercial production. Working closely with research scientists and production engineers, you will ensure that processes are robust, efficient, and meet stringent quality and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes and purification methods.
- Operate and troubleshoot pilot plant equipment, collecting and analyzing critical process data.
- Manage the scale-up of processes from laboratory to commercial manufacturing, ensuring seamless technology transfer.
- Develop and validate process analytical technologies (PAT) to ensure real-time monitoring and control.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation, including batch records, process validation reports, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in process development, scale-up, or manufacturing within the pharmaceutical or specialty chemical sectors.
- Hands-on experience with process scale-up principles and common chemical unit operations.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques and data interpretation.
- Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
