About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and forward-thinking Process Development Engineer to join their dedicated team in Cardiff . This role is central to the continuous improvement and innovation of their manufacturing operations, focusing on developing and refining chemical processes to enhance efficiency, product quality, and safety. You will work closely with production and R&D departments to translate laboratory findings into robust industrial-scale processes. The successful candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and committed to achieving operational excellence in a stimulating manufacturing environment, contributing significantly to the company's growth and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products, ensuring scalability and economic viability.
- Conduct pilot plant trials, analyze data, and scale-up processes from bench to commercial production.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, improve yields, and minimize environmental impact.
- Perform process safety reviews, including HAZOP studies, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement robust solutions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and process flow diagrams for new and existing processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or manufacturing support within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proficiency with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Hands-on experience with pilot plant operations and laboratory equipment.
- Strong understanding of chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
