About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Development Engineer to join their innovative team in Birmingham . This role focuses on the development and scaling of new chemical manufacturing processes, bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial application. You will work within a hybrid model, combining essential on-site laboratory and plant interaction with remote analysis and documentation. Your contributions will be critical in ensuring the successful translation of novel chemical concepts into robust, scalable, and cost-effective production methods. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize chemical reaction conditions, separation techniques, and purification methods.
- Scale up laboratory processes to pilot plant and commercial scale, identifying and addressing scale-up challenges.
- Develop detailed process documentation, including batch records, operating procedures, and P&IDs.
- Collaborate with research chemists and engineers to troubleshoot process issues and implement improvements.
- Conduct process hazard analyses and implement safety protocols for new and existing processes.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to project teams and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or chemical manufacturing.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, pilot plant operations, and industrial chemical processes.
- Understanding of chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation principles.
- Experience with process safety evaluation and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis.
