Process Development Scientist - Biopharmaceuticals

About the Role

Our client has an exciting opening for a talented Process Development Scientist focused on Biopharmaceuticals to join their innovative team in Edinburgh . This role is central to optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for biological drug substances. You will be responsible for developing robust, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing processes, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and troubleshooting challenges to ensure successful technology transfer to manufacturing. This is a key position for a scientist eager to contribute to the production of life-changing biologics, working in state-of-the-art facilities in Scotland .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize upstream and/or downstream processes for the manufacture of biopharmaceutical products.
• Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments to characterize and improve processes.
• Perform data analysis, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Support process validation activities and technology transfer to manufacturing sites.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality control, and project management teams.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in biopharmaceutical process development and scale-up.
• Strong understanding of cell culture, fermentation, purification, or formulation techniques.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
