About the Role
Our client, a niche manufacturer of fine chemicals, is seeking a skilled Process Development Scientist to drive innovation and efficiency in their operations based in Bristol . This role is integral to developing and optimizing chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality and cost-effectiveness. You will bridge the gap between research and production, working with a talented team to bring new chemical products to market and improve existing ones, contributing to the company's reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize synthetic routes and chemical processes for fine chemicals, focusing on yield, purity, and scalability.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, analyze results, and scale up processes from benchtop to pilot plant scale.
- Troubleshoot process issues and identify root causes, proposing and implementing solutions.
- Ensure all process development activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with analytical chemists and production teams to ensure successful process transfer and implementation.
- Prepare detailed reports, research summaries, and process documentation.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a strong chemistry focus.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in process development or synthetic chemistry within the fine chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven experience in process optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
- Familiarity with process safety considerations and analytical techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to experimental work in Bristol .
