Process Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Process Development Scientist to join their R&D team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for novel pharmaceutical compounds and drug products. You will apply scientific principles and engineering expertise to develop robust, efficient, and cost-effective production methods. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up chemical synthesis or formulation processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
• Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate process parameters, identify critical process controls, and troubleshoot issues.
• Design and execute process validation studies to demonstrate consistency and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with analytical development, manufacturing, and engineering teams to ensure successful process transfer.
• Document all experimental work meticulously in research reports and contribute to regulatory filings.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in process development within the Pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
• Strong understanding of organic synthesis, purification techniques, or formulation science.
• Experience with process scale-up, technology transfer, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP).
• Proficiency in relevant analytical techniques and data analysis software.
