About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and driven Process Development Scientist to join their innovative team in Plymouth, Devon . This role is central to the translation of laboratory discoveries into robust, scalable manufacturing processes for new chemical products. You will conduct hands-on experimentation, analyze results, and contribute to the design of pilot and full-scale production systems. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to optimize chemical reactions and separation processes.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for monitoring process performance and product quality.
- Conduct scale-up studies from laboratory bench to pilot plant scale.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and implementation.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present findings to project teams and management.
- Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure successful technology transfer.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering , or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in process development, ideally within the pharmaceutical or specialty chemicals sector.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and pilot plant operations.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopy).
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics and thermodynamics.
- Excellent scientific judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
