About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Process Development Scientist to join their dynamic team in Bristol . This role focuses on optimising and scaling up manufacturing processes for new pharmaceutical products, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and cost-effective. You will work closely with research, manufacturing, and engineering teams to translate laboratory-scale processes to commercial production. This is a key position for a scientist with a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and a passion for bringing new therapies from development to market, contributing to a critical stage of drug manufacturing in the South West England region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise, and scale-up manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
- Design and execute experiments to understand process parameters and identify critical control points.
- Investigate and troubleshoot process-related issues encountered during scale-up and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with analytical development to establish appropriate in-process controls and specifications.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all process development activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, process scale-up, and manufacturing principles.
- Experience with various analytical techniques for process monitoring and characterisation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to experimental work.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly.
